Frans-Aert Burghgraef appointed chief conductor of Royal Military Band Johan Willem Friso
From October 2023 Frans-Aert Burghgraef will succeed chief conductor Major Tijmen Botma at the Royal Military Band 'Johan Willem Friso' (KMKJWF).

The KMKJWF is one of the three professional military harmony orchestras of the Dutch armed forces. The chapel provides music for military ceremonies and state functions. At the concerts, the musical heritage is of paramount importance. The KMKJWF is part of the Royal Netherlands Army and consists of 53 professional musicians. In 2005, the oldest professional harmony orchestras in the Netherlands, the Royal Military Band from The Hague and the Johan Willem Friso Band from Assen merged to form the orchestra KMKJWF.

The KMKJWF plays original repertoire as much as possible, but also its own versions of classical, light and film music. Various styles alternate during concerts. In addition to existing repertoire, the KMKJWF has new music composed in order to continue playing original repertoire in the future.
